This year we are going to be good learners. Second grade is wonderful year for children as they are sponges with knowledge. Because students are such good learners in second grade we will be doing a lot of reading and writing. Some of the topics covered in second grade include the life cycle of plants, water, matter, citizenship, addition, subtraction, measurement, and fractions. The first bell is at 8:50 AM and school ends at 3:57 PM.

I want to encourage all parents to be active participants this year. Children watch everything we do and we can easily model learning by talking them through our thought processes. Feel free to call, email, or send notes with any questions you might have throughout the school year. Communication is the best way to show your involvement in learning.

February 21 – 24: Measurement, planting seeds, business in a community, important ideas in Reading, informational writing via digital media

February 24 – Daddy Daughter Dance
February 28 – Voting
March – Reding Month, Oceans, Sharks
March 6th – no school
March 30th – Spring break
